Benjamin J. Heckman, MPH, CIH

Ben Heckman has more than twenty years of experience as an industrial hygienist and environmental consultant. He is a certified industrial hygienist with broad-based knowledge of exposure assessment and exposure reconstruction principles, which he applies within the paradigm of risk analysis. Ben is a Principal and Co-Founder of RHP Risk Management, Inc. He works with clients on projects nationwide with an emphasis in California, the Midwest and the mid-Atlantic regions. Mr. Heckman is responsible for managing company operations, client relations, and business development in the areas of industrial hygiene, environment, and health and safety. He holds a Master of Public Health degree in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health, Ann Arbor and a Bachelor of Arts degree (double major) in biology and environmental studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Mr. Heckman consults on project management and technical services for clients in government, construction, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, and commercial sectors on industrial hygiene related projects. He has conducted exposure assessments, indoor air quality investigations, exposure simulations, historical exposure reconstructions, modeling, statistical analysis, scholarly research, literature digestion and analysis, and litigation services on topics including asbestos, silica, solvents, volatile organic compounds, welding fumes, environmental contaminants, and workplace safety. Mr. Heckman has provided litigation support on topics including asbestos, silica, solvents, volatile organic compounds, welding fumes, other environmental contaminants, workplace safety hazardous materials remediation, industrial hygiene and indoor air quality.

Ben Heckman has managed hazardous materials surveys for residential, commercial and industrial clients. He has managed environmental lead hazard risk assessments/inspections and asbestos building inspections to assess environmental health, occupational safety and hazards. Further he has managed remediation specifications, oversight, air monitoring, and certifications for large scale hazardous materials abatement projects. He is AHERA trained and accredited and holds certifications as a Cal/DOSH Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC)and Cal/DPH Certified Lead-Related Construction, Inspector/Risk Assessor, and Project Monitor.
